  40. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  43. To install the HPPCL5A Printer Driver:
  44.  
  45. Part 1:
  46. 1.  Delete your font summary file.  The font information for this version
  47.     of the driver has changed, therefore, it is necessary to delete the
  48.     font summary file.  Note:  the font summary file is usually located in
  49.     the Windows directory and the nomenclature is FS5LPT1.PCL (where LPT1
  50.     represents the port name).  You will have a different font summary file
  51.     for every port installed and need to delete all occurrences of the font
  52.     summary file.  If the font summary file does not appear in the Windows
  53.     directory it can be located by looking in the win.ini file under the
  54.     heading FontSummary=.

  57. Part 2:
  58. 1.  Start Windows 3.0.
  59.  
  60. 2.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group in Program Manager. The
  61.     Control Panel window appears.
  62.  
  63. 3.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window. The Printers
  64.     dialog box appears.
  65.  
  66. 4.  Choose the Add Printer >> button.
  67.  
  68. 5.  From the List of Printers: dialog box, select the Unlisted Printer.
  69.     Unlisted Printer is the last entry in the List of Printers dialog box.

  71. 6.  Choose Install.
  72.  
  73. 7.  Insert the HPPCL5A Printer Driver Disk Version 30.3.86.
  74.  
  75. 8.  Double click on the installation drive in the "Directories:" list.
  76.  
  77. 9.  Double click on HPPCL5A.DRV in the Driver Files list.
  78.  
  79. 10. Choose "New" when asked whether you want to use the current driver or
  80.     install a new driver.

  82. 11. The entry "HP LaserJet III on None, Inactive" will appear in the
  83.     Installed Printers dialog box.
  84.  
  85. 12. Choose Configure.
  86.  
  87. 13. Highlight the correct printer port from the Ports dialog box.
  88.  
  89. 14. Choose Setup.
  90.  
  91. 15. Make any necessary changes in the Printer Setup window to reflect your
  92.     printer's configuration.

  94. 16. Choose OK twice.

  96. 17. Choose Active.

  98. 18. Choose OK.

  100. The HPPCL5A printer driver is now installed.
  101.  
  102. NOTE:  Any HP LaserJet III printer you have previously installed will use
  103. the new PCL 5 Printer Driver and Hewlett-Packard Font Installer. Remove
  104. through the Control Panel any HP LaserJet III printer entries that are not
  105. needed.

  107. To remove a printer from the Installed Printers List:
  108.  
  109. 1.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group in Program Manager.
  110.  
  111. 2.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window. The Printers
  112.     dialog box appears.
  113.  
  114. 3.  Highlight the printer you want to remove.
  115.  
  116. 4.  Choose Configure.
  117.  
  118. 5.  Choose Remove.
  119.  
  120. 6.  Choose Yes when asked if you want to remove the printer.
  121.  
  122. 7.  Choose OK twice to return to the Control Panel.
  123.  
  124. Until you exit Windows 3.0 and then restart Windows 3.0, the Printer Setup
  125. function from the Control Panel is accessed from the installation disk.
  126. Make sure the installation disk for HPPCL5A Printer Driver Version 30.3.86
  127. is inserted in the floppy drive whenever you request Printer Setup from the
  128. Control Panel after installing the new Printer Driver and before exiting
  129. Windows 3.0.

  133. HPPCL5A PRINTER DRIVER SUPPORT CHANGES

  136. The WordPerfect Bitmap Cartridge support has been removed from the 30.3.86
  137. driver.  The WordPerfect Cartridge can be added to the font installer by
  138. using either the AutoFont support disk packaged with the cartridge or by
  139. obtaining AutoFont support from the Personal Peripherals Assistance Line.
